Kharoshthi Manuscripts Project

The project focuses on the study of Kharoshthi Manuscripts discovered by Professor Meritorious Dr. M. Nasim Khan in 1999.

A preliminary study of the manuscripts has been published in 2004 and 2008 (rpt. 2009).  Publication of the monograph was sponsored by the Higher Education (HEC), Pakistan, and the British Council in Islamabad.


This project aims to survey, document, catalogue and study.

1: Kharoshthi inscriptions discovered in Gandhara since 1947.

2. Brahmi and Sharada inscriptions found in Gandhara.

3. Kohi (Pushkarasari) and other Gandharan and non Gandharan epigraphs found in the area.



Kashmir Smast Archaeological Research Project

Final Report of Phase I of the archaeological investigation at the Hindu site of Kashmir Smast is published in 2018. The excavations and explorations were sponsored by the National Fund for Cultural Heritage, Government of Pakistan.


Aziz Dheri Archaeological Research Project

Finalizing volume 4 of the archaeological investigation carried out at the Buddhist site of Aziz Dheri. The excavations were sponsored by the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar.
